Pandemic Perspectives Seminar Series 2022

In order to celebrate the beginning of the new series, we are delighted to share with you a recording of the lecture which inspired us to start a seminar series back in 2021. We decided it would be fitting to have the lecture by Smadar Ben-Natan (University of Washington) as the inaugural lecture in this series. This excellent talk discusses the significance and role of the COVID-19 pandemic in various forms of political activism in Israel.
We also feel obliged to mention the speaker on the subsequent week, Osama Tanous MD (Visiting scholar at the François-Xavier Bagnoud Center for Health and Human Rights, Harvard University), whose lecture was equally impactful in terms of inspiring us to organise a seminar series. The talk highlighted the human rights abuses, inequalities, and politicisation of medical care in the context of the pandemic concerning Palestinians as well as Israeli Palestinians. Sadly, the talk was not recorded due to technical issues on our part, but you can find relevant literature in Osama’s other writings, especially here.
